| Bassandra, a.k.a. Sandy, was our second Foundation Broodmare. Both of her daughters by Count Niga are were important broodmares in our breeding program. Azrahami Free is the granddam of Dawn Prince and Ofir Mistala is the dam of Blaze Free. We still have a Sandy granddaughter in our broodmare band. Sadly, Azra and Misty had to be put down earlier this year due to complications from founder both suffered during the past five years. Rain Dancer Free is the only mare we have left to carry on the Bassandra line in our broodmare band. | ![]() |
NIGA
FREE 496831
(LR Kailai Witez x Ofir Mistala) 14.0 HH 5/26/93 Blue-Black Gelding. Big star, snip, front partial stockings, left hind partial sock, and right hind partial pastern. Niga Free has a wonderful disposition, is beautiful, very athletic and is built to work. His pedigree is linebred to *Witez II through both is sire and his dam. Niga inherited his sire's beautiful 45 degree shoulder, excellent hip and good tail carriage. His dam gave him her beautiful head, lovely refined neck and good bone. Niga was our Junior Stallion for two years. He sired one filly and three colts. Beau Free shown below is a Niga Free son. Niga spent the better part of three years in training and working cattle in Wyoming. He has turned out to be a wonderful roping horse, especially on the open range. After being away for almost a year, Niga is home to stay. He is now Anna's personal saddle horse. Niga and Anna are valued members of the Meeker Drill Team, performing percision drills at regional rodeos and appearing in several parades. We are also planing fishing trips and pleasure rides with Niga to the high mountain lakes and trails of the White River National forest. You can see photos of Niga working cattle on our Photo Album pages. Kara Taylor of the Taylor Ranches in Wyoming is in the saddle in this 1999 photo. |
BLAZE
FREE 1A327504
(Tru Bruiser x Ofir Mistala) 6/13/97 Black & White Tobiano colt. Blaze's sire, Tru Bruiser, was a champion performance and halter American Paint Horse. The Foundation Quarter Horse sires King and Leo are well represented in Bruiser's pedigree, as is the great thoroughbred stallion Three Bars. Out of our beautiful Ofir Mistala, Blaze is an excellent example of the superiority of the Arabian/Quarter Horse cross. Blaze carries three lines to the Arabian stallion *Witez II. This bloodline is very rare in Pinto 1/2 Arabs. Deep in black breeding from both his sire and dam, Blaze should be able to reproduce his color and pinto markings in his foals. Tru Bruiser was homozygous for black and the tobiano pattern. Ofir Mistala is a genetic liver chestnut and has produced blue-black each of the three times she has been bred to black, including Blaze. We thought long and hard before breeding one of our very best broodmares out of the Arabian breed. We gambled, and we won! Blaze Free is everything and more than we could ever have hoped for. Blaze has the pedigree, breeding, conformation and attitude to be a top performance horse. We will be trying him as a cutting horse when the time comes. Both cutting and reining are very prominent in his Paint Horse side and cutting is well represented in the Arabian side. Blaze is trained western and will be put to work this summer as Ed's "Fish'n Horse". |
BEAU
FREE 545380
(Niga Free x WitezaQuatraCroce) 5/22/97 Bay Gelding. I have saved the very best for last. Beau Free is 31.8% *Witez II blood, beautiful, and very correct conformation. He is really something special. After recovering from a life-threatening illness he contracted shortly after he was foaled, Beau is healthy and growing. Beginning at two months old, Beau visited the local nursing home regularly until he was too bing to travel down the hallways. Read Beau's Story and you too will fall in love with this amazing little horse. Beau's future at Freeman Arabians is assured. I made the very difficult decision to geld this wonderful little horse because of what the future holds for him. In a very real sense, Beau is a "healer". His future value as a stallion is greatly outweighed by the enormous benefit he will be to people as a gelding. He has become a very positive Ambassador for the Arabian horse breed. Eventually Beau will be used as a Therapeutic Riding Horse. Beau has a people-oriented disposition, excellent conformation, Arabian type and a *Witez II Preservation pedigree. Beau is such a special horse, he has his own pages on our site. See photos of his visits to our local nursing home on Beau's Pages. Beau was featured on the internet Arabian Horse Interactive Magazine, and in these print magazines: SpotLight on Pintos published in Canada, Purosangue Arabo Magazine of Italy, and most recently in the Arabian Horse Express, published in the U.S.A. |
