This sequence of photos show the steps a horse has to learn in order to become a good "Branding Horse".
John and Niga rope rope their calf.
They bring their calf out of the herd..
... and wait for the next available branding team.
A team has finished with their calf and are ready for John and Niga's calf.
(Above and Below)
As John and Niga bring their calf to the branding team, members catch the calf and wrestle it to the ground.  They remove the rope and hold the calf down while other team members vaccinate and brand all the calves.  Bull calves are also casterated.
Branding is hard, dirty work.  It begins at dawn and many times doesn't end until dark.  There is a lot of noise, scared cattle, crowded conditions and many strange things going on.  It takes a very special horse to work in these conditions and keep cool.  Niga has proven he is up to the job and we are very proud of him.

We want to thank John and Kathy Brower for having faith in Niga.  Especially since Niga's previous trainer had told us that he wasn't good for much else than a backyard pet.  John and Kathy took Niga to Wyoming in November 1997 and worked with him all winter.  They have helped him on his way to his full potential.

We decided to geld Niga in June 1998.  We don't have the facility for several stallions.  His sire LR Kailai Witez, is doing a fantastic job as a sire and I REALLY NEED A GOOD GELDING.

I think I just might have one of the best!
